If you would like to take your date to a crowded spot with great views, come to Salisbury road during The Calgary Stampede. You have to walk your lawn chair up the hill, because roads are blocked off during Stampede to reduce traffic, but it has amazing views once you are up there. Bring a picnic, and plenty of bug dope and stay for the best views of the fireworks.
Bottlescrew Bills
This was the pub that Peter and I went to on our first date twenty five years ago. We went for supper after the Olympic Plaza festival and discovered the food and beer was just as great now as then.
Festival at Olympic Plaza
Summer is a great time to catch a festival at Olympic Plaza or Prince’s Island Park. Pack a picnic and enjoy some great music. Afterwards, “have tea” at the Famous Five statues.
Walk through Inglewood
A hot summer evening is a great time for a long walk through Inglewood by the river. See cute little houses, pretty front gardens and a really great children’s playground as well as a walk by the river. Next time, we will bring a picnic.
The Ipad Buffet
This is the interesting new concept in buffet restaurants – order by Ipad. The One Sushi restaurant offers sushi and wok dishes in appetiser sizes so people can taste and order more if they like. Although we received 6 Pad Thai dishes when we ordered 2, the food was pretty good. Cost is a bit high for a buffet, but it is definitely worth trying at least once. Lights are low and great for a romantic dinner.
