My experience at the zoo has always been about me taking 5 children through the years they were growing up. I had to deal with hot walks, spilled drinks, potty accidents, scraped knees, cactus spines embedded into little hands, sibling fights and hundreds of tantrums when the children were denied treats at the giftshop or we had to leave the playground. Zoogala changed all that! It is an adult-only event that is a fundraiser for the zoo and quite a different way to enjoy the zoo. Lots of good eats (provided by restaurants) and drinks (wine and beer tastings) and fun with other participants. Oh yes, there are animals too. So much fun and a relaxed, calm evening with the lover! Ahhhhhhh……
Don’t let Winter or Fall keep you in restaurants. Pack some hot dogs and gather your date around a fire pit at Fish Creek Park. The lovely parks off of Bow Bottom Trail are not crowded outside of summer weekends. Don’t bring your children or they will photobomb your pics.
A night out at the theatre doesn’t have to be expensive and many productions welcome drop-ins. We recently bought same-day tickets for a production of Morpheus Theatre. Reasonable cost, great seats and a bar during the intermission. Can’t get any better for cosiness.
